W-MU boys’ golf wins home triangularNew London claims win on girls’ side of meet
WINFIELD — The Winfield-Mt. Union boys’ golf team scored 172 on its home course on Tuesday night, picking up a win over New London (187) and Louisa-Muscatine (204).
The New London team got the win on the girls’ side of the meet with a score of 195. The W-MU girls scored 226, and L&M finished with a team score of 253.
For the boys, there were three medalists, each with a score of 42 on the day: W-MU’s Jake Edwards and Brody Heying, as well as New London’s Tristan Kadel.
W-MU’s Klayton Booth shot a 43, and Sam Jennings scored 45 for the Wolves to round out their team score.
Also golfing for W-MU was Kolt Rossiter and Thayne McElhinney, who finished with score of 46 and 49, respectively.
Behind Kadel on the New London team was Hagin Gillis with a score of 45. Quincy Porter shot a 49 and Kyler Meyer completed the course at Twin Lakes Golf Club in 51 strokes.
Tyler Schneider shot a 55 for New London and Jayden Flowers finished with a score of 56.
On the girls’ side of the meet, New London’s Jorgi Krieger was the medalist with a score of 45.
The next-lowest score came from W-MU’s Grace Edwards, who shot a 46.
Next for New London was Victoria Noel with a score of 48. Both Baylee Lindell and Morgan Oliver scored 51 for the Tigers, giving the team their final score.
Emma Pry scored 57 for New London and Raeanna Stevens finished the course in 62 strokes.
Other scores for W-MU came from Shelby Therme, who shot a 50, followed by Lauren Baker with a 57 and Katie Benson with a 73.
Next up for W-MU is another home meet, this time against Columbus, on Monday at 4 p.m.
The Tigers will host Mediapolis and Wapello at Deerwood tomorrow (Friday) at 4 p.m.
