W-MU, New London boys' golf teams qualify for districts
NEW LONDON — The Winfield-Mt. Union boys’ golf team won their sectional tournament at New London on Friday and New London placed second overall. Both teams advance to the district tournament.
The Wolves scored 334 as a team, just two strokes ahead of New London, which scored 336.
The Tigers had the medalist on their home course, as New London’s Tristan Kadel shot a 75 on the par-72 course.
Runner-up medalist was W-MU’s Jake Edwards with a 79, and the Wolves’ Brody Heying took third with an 83.
Other scores for the Wolves came from Klayton Booth, 85; Sam Jennings, 87; Kolt Rossiter, 90; and Zach Davis, 95.
The Tigers’ Quincy Porter shot an 85, followed by Hagin Gillis and Kyler Meyer, each of whom scored 88. Jayden Flowers scored 103 and Tyler Schnieder scored 106.
Both W-MU and New London will golf again at the district tournament, which will be at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City on Thursday, starting at 9:30 a.m.
