W-MU softball scores 4 but falls short in conference game against Mepo
WINFIELD — Four runs were not enough for the Winfield-Mt. Union softball team, which fell to Mediapolis in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division game at home on Tuesday night.
The Wolves scored two runs in the sixth and two in the seventh, but it was too little, too late as they dropped a 10-4 decision.
W-MU held Mediapolis to just one run for the first four frames, but the Bullettes managed to break open the game with six runs in the fifth inning.
They added two more insurance runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Lindsey Schick took the loss on the mound for the Wolves, who are now 4-12 on the season and 2-11 in the conference.
The Bullettes upped their record to 9-8 overall and 8-3 in the SEISC North.
At the plate, Sam Jamison had a pair of hits to lead W-MU. Five other Wolves had one hit each.
Next up for W-MU is a trip to Columbus Junction on Thursday. The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m.
