W-MU takes down Highland in four sets
RIVERSIDE — The W-MU volleyball team took down Highland in a four-set road match on Tuesday, claiming another Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division victory.
The Wolves won the first two sets on the night, 25-24 and 25-16, but faltered when they tried for the sweep, falling in game three by a score of 25-23. However, they came back with a big win in game four, 25-6.
Erica Robison had 13 kills to lead the Wolves and Shelby Therme added 11. Sam Jamison added seven kills while Emily Mathews had six, Lou Krieger-Coen had five and Nicole Escher had four.
Brooke Jennings had 16 assists and Taylor Rodgers added 13.
Therme was a perfect 21-for-21 serving with five aces; Rodgers was also 21-for-21 and had two aces, while Jennings had two aces in 25-for-25 serving.
Mathews put up a team-high four blocks.
Therme had 10 digs for W-MU. Layne Davis, Darby Harris and Robison had nine digs each.
The Wolves are now 15-9 on the season and 3-2 in the conference. They host Pekin tonight (Thursday), starting with the freshman game at 5:30 p.m., followed by JV and varsity.
W-MU will then play in the New London Tournament on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
