W-MU volleyball goes 3-2 at West Branch
WEST BRANCH — The Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team went 3-2 and finished fifth overall at the West Branch Tournament on Saturday.
The Class 1A No. 9 Wolves fell to Iowa City Regina (21-13, 21-17) and Eddyville-Blakesburg (21-6, 21-19), but defeated Lone Tree (21-10, 21-7) in pool play. They then won both consolation bracket games, beating English Valleys (25-10, 25-16) and Lone Tree (25-9, 25-5).
Erica Robison had a team-high 22 kills, while Shelby Therme and Sam Jamison each had 15.
Taylor Rodgers had 34 assists and Brooke Jennings had 29.
Rodgers also went 43-43 serving with nine aces.
Emily Mathews put up four blocks, while Therme came up with 22 digs.
The Wolves are now 5-2 overall and host their first conference game on Thursday against Louisa-Muscatine.
