W-MU volleyball tops Wapello
WAPELLO — The Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team topped Wapello in its final regular-season game, sweeping the Arrows by scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-15.
The Wolves finish ranked No. 12 in Class 1A with a record of 23-10. They went 7-2 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division.
W-MU plays its first regional match on Tuesday, Oct. 29, and will host the winner of the match between Keota and Sigourney. The Wolves have a first-round bye.
In last night’s match, Erica Robison had a team-high 11 kills, while Shelby Therme put down eight. Lou Krieger-Coen added six and Emily Mathews had five kills.
Taylor Rodgers had 15 assists and Brooke Jennings added 13.
Rodgers also led the team in serving, going 19-for-19 with two aces. Therme and Robison served one ace each. Jennings was a perfect 17-for-17.
Mathews had three blocks and Krieger-Coen contributed two. Robison and Therme had one block each.
Robison had a team-high nine digs, followed by Therme with six, Darby Harris and Layne Davis with five each, Jennings with four and Nicole Escher with two.
