WACO boys’ basketball splits weekend games
The WACO boys’ basketball team dropped Friday night’s 79-45 decision to Pekin before coming back with a 47-46 win over Holy Trinity on Saturday.
Pekin built an early lead over the Warriors in Friday’s game, taking a 43-21 lead by halftime. They added another 26 points in the third quarter on their way to the win.
For WACO, Jackson Roth scored a team-high 16 points. Dylan Carlson pulled down five rebounds.
On Saturday, the Warriors trailed early but outscored the Crusaders 12-7 in the final eight minutes to claim a win.
Carlson paced WACO with 20 points and grabbed 10 boards for the double-double. Roth and Bryce Achen had eight points each; Roth and Tucker Janecek had seven rebounds apiece. Braden Blake dished out seven assists.
WACO is now 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the SEISC North. The Warriors play again tonight when it hosts Wapello, starting with the girls’ game at 6 p.m.
