Wayland Fire Chief Mat Leichty reports the department responded to a call for EMS on July 31 on Dakota Avenue.
At 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2013, the members of the Wayland Area Antique Tractor Club began to gather for their annual trek to Hamilton, Illinois, and the Western Illinois Threshers Reunion. Norman Boshart led the caravan of eleven tractors as left Wayland promptly at 7 a.m. Wayland Police Chief Ron Roth provided assistance with traffic control giving the caravan safe entry onto Highway 78.
The group was joined by other members along the route as they headed south on W55 with their first scheduled stop in Salem for a morning break. Denmark was the scheduled stop for lunch and the afternoon break in Nauvoo, Illinois. They hoped to arrive in Hamilton by late afternoon.
