Wayland Area News
The “Fit 4 Fun” appreciation celebration was held Sunday, June 1. The event began in Central Park at the site of the new playground equipment. Barry Leichty and Jeff Moore (assisted by Mayor Brad Roth) installed the new sign recognizing donors. Brooke Carter, Lori Messer and Bev Conrad untied the red ribbon celebrating “Unity in the Community.” These ladies were instrumental in the fundraising efforts and in coordinating the volunteers who installed the new equipment.
This new equipment is geared for young children (up to age 12) and is a great change in the play area of the Wayland Central Park. Following the outdoor event, all were invited to the community center where light refreshments were served and a power point video highlighted all of the project from beginning to end. This video was made by Bev Conrad.
At this time, donors who gave $500 up to $5,000 and up received a paper weight in the shape of a diamond (gem) which was engraved with the project name and year.
Mayor Roth thanked all donors and all volunteers.
Messer gave a special thank you to Conrad for all the extra work she did for the project.
This project speaks very highly of the “Unity in the Community” and what can be done with such unity.
