WAYLAND — With barely a quorum (three council members) present, the Wayland City Council made quick work of a short agenda Wednesday night.
The council approved Mayor Brad Roth contracting the possible purchase of a 10,000 mcf (mcf equals 1,000 cubic feet) of natural gas for use in October of the next three years (2018, 2019 and 2020).
City Clerk Bev Conrad said the city occasionally attempts to purchase gas in advance to lock in a price. She said the reason additional natural gas was sought in October is due to grain drying following harvest.
Council members also okayed the purchase of a snow blade for approximately $1,800 from Brozene Hydraulic Service of Burlington.
In final agenda items, the council set a public hearing for Jan. 18 on the Cummings Street paving project.
The first reading was passed on an ordinance adding a new chapter to city code pertaining to the management of trees, shrubs and bushes.
Council members meet again in regular session Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m., at City Hall.
