Wayne Ford, 84, Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Arbor Court.
Visitation will begin after noon on Monday, Jan. 27, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Born April 6, 1929, in Henry County, he was the son of LeRoy Bert and Dorothy (Long) Ford. He was raised on a farm and received his education at the Pleasant Lawn School. On Aug. 6, 1950, he married Delores Hootman.
He worked for McAllister Seed Company for many years. Later he worked in maintenance for the Maple Leaf Nursing Home (now known as Arbor Court) and the Maple Leaf housing development.
He loved making a variety of gifts for his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley (Danny) Welcher of Mt. Pleasant; three sons, Steven (Rhonda) Ford, Larry (Patty) Ford and Dale Ford all of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Rosie) Ford of Mt. Pleasant; and a sister, Doris Biggs of Mt. Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Le Roy Ford, Everett Ford and Carl Ford (in infancy); and four sisters, Lucille Lewis, Martha Meyer, Mary Stonehouse and Margaret Garmoe.
