Winfield plans Halloween Fest
WINFIELD — The City of Winfield is gearing up for their annual Halloween Fest to be Saturday, Oct. 26.
This year pumpkins will be the center of attention as there will be pumpkin carving, decorating, pumpkin bake off and of course pumpkin chunkin’ throughout the day.
The day will begin with a hot breakfast of pancakes, sausage and eggs at the VFW building. Breakfast will be served from 7 to 9:30 a.m. and Countreestore will be hosting a wine tasting from 1 to 4 p.m.
The rest of the celebration’s events will be held at the Winfield Commons.
Bring a pumpkin or squash baked pie, cookies, bread or other baked goods to the baked pumpkin/squash contest. There is no entry fee, but entrants should bring one baked good for the contest judging and one to sell at the dessert auction to be held later in the day.
At 1 p.m. the chili cook-off and pumpkin people contest will begin. There is no fee for either of the contests, and electricity will be provided for the chili cook-off. There is a fee to taste the chili entries.
Children’s games will begin at 3 p.m. with Halloween story telling; costume contest with divisions for children, adults and groups.
The annual bonfire and hotdog roast will begin at 5 p.m., followed by haunted and un-haunted hayrack rides. The un-haunted rides begin at 5:30 p.m. and the haunted rides will begin at dusk.
Trick or treating in Winfield will be on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.
