Winifred “Winnie” Wright
Winifred “Winnie” Wright, 86, of Fairfield, died on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, in First Baptist Church, in Fairfield, with Rev. John Kermott officiating. Visitation will open at 3 p.m., on Thursday, at Pedrick Funeral Home, in Keosauqua, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, east of Douds.
Memorials to Awana Clubs or First Baptist Church may be left at the funeral home or church, or mailed to the family at 2056 Fir Avenue, Batavia, Iowa 52533.
Wright was born on March 13, 1930, in Holyoke, Colo., the daughter of John and Elizabeth Boyer Van Boening. She graduated from Grant NE High School and Omaha Bible Institute. She married Donald C. Wright on June 23, 1951, in Venango, Neb. He preceded her in death.
Along with her husband, Wright served in various churches in Arkansas, Iowa and Nebraska. After retiring, she continued to work in the mission field in various locations with her husband.
She attended First Baptist Church, in Creston, and was a member of First Baptist Church, in Fairfield.
Wright is survived by four daughters, Sharie (Jerry) Leazer, of Batavia; Joy (Jerry) Dage, of Sargeant Bluff; Betsy Wright, of Fairfield; and Becky England, of Jackson, Miss.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Patricia VanBoening; and a brother, Gene VanBoening.
