After a 59-degree high temperature on Tuesday, area residents woke to snow on the ground this morning. Heavy, wet snow began falling shortly after 5 a.m. Fortunately, the snow was heavy because brisk winds accompanied the precipitation. Although the morning commute was slick and there were reports of some vehicles in rural ditches, most workers were able to make it to work. Temperatures will fall throughout the day today with tomorrow’s high temperature forecasted to be in the low teens. The mercury will drop below zero Thursday night and a warming trend is predicted for early next week.
