Your Friend on the Front Page
Every week, The News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.
This week’s ‘Friend on the Front Page’ is Alex Oetken, whom you may know from Sip and helping with Main Street Mt. Pleasant events.
Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant? If not, what brought you here? I am. I did go to college in Louisiana, but came back to Mt. Pleasant to do my internship at the Union Block.
What’s your favorite part of living here? All of the great events we have. For a small town we have a lot of cool events and it’s fun to help plan them.
What do you like to do in your free time? I love music. I also like traveling. I once went to Ireland. It was so green and the people were so nice. It’s a whole different culture there.
What annual event in Mt. Pleasant do you enjoy? Pints in the Park was really great this year. It was really fun, chill and laid back and featured local breweries.
Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn’t have you’d like to see? I’d love to see a pub or brewery. Some place for young professionals to hang out.
What’s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? Butch’s River Rock tenderloins.
Tell us something interesting about yourself? I rapped “Bang Bang” for Ariana Grande during a concert last April. I was there volunteering at the ACM’s in Las Vegas.
