Your Friend on the Front Page

Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.

This week’s ‘Friend on the Front Page’ is Nikole Keaster.

Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? Yes, I grew up in Mt. Pleasant. I moved to Cedar Rapids and Iowa City for school after high school, then left and lived in Florida. In the end I returned back to Mt. Pleasant where I began coaching and met my husband.

What is your favorite part of living here? I love the sense of community Mt. Pleasant offers. My husband grew up in a large city in California. With our two-year-old we both agree we like the sense of comfort and safety when thinking about her growing up in Mt. Pleasant.

What is your favorite local hangout? This one made me laugh because I feel like it has been awhile since my husband and I have gotten to go and “hangout.” I’d have to say I love spending my time at my new dance studio, Niki K’s Dance Company, and with my competition cheer squad, usually at Cottrell Gym.

Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? I love MPCHS Homecoming. The whole community gets involved in the events and I love seeing the alumni who come back to support the Panthers.

Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn’t have that you’d like to see? A seafood restaurant! - Crab legs please!

Tell us something interesting about you? I have a very busy life, running from one thing to the next, and some people think I’m a little crazy for that, because I am. The truth is, I haven’t worked for years because everything I do in my life I am passionate about and enjoy. I get to give back to kids in our community by passing along my passions and I get to work with some of my best friends while still use my love for graphic design!
