Stabbings result of offensive texts

The second stabbing incident within two weeks in Mt. Pleasant occurred Friday, June 11 at approximately 10:15 p.m.

According to reports from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, officers were called to Central Park near the fountain to an incident involving a knife fight. Once on the scene, officers discovered that Rachel Camelin, 17, and Patrick Moore, 19, both of Mt. Pleasant, had been stabbed during an altercation with two other females, Ashley Cluney, 17, of Burlington and Deseriee Wilson, 17, of Mt. Pleasant. According to the parties involved, the fight was the result of offensive text messages that had been sent earlier Friday.

Cluney has been charged with two counts of willful injury and one count of going armed with intent. She was taken into custody and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Lee County. According to the report, additional charges are pending.
