Airport entertains idea of medical helicopter

May 02, 2018

The Airport Advisory Board was presented with the opportunity to house an emergency helicopter on their grounds. No formal proposal was made and the conversation was tabled until one would be presented.

City administrator Brent Schleisman stated that at this time they were, “exploring options for development as it relates to our master plan.”

The name of the company presenting the idea is being withheld at this time.

The board has been presented with a similar opportunity from a different company before, but never received a formal proposal, thus concluded those conversations.

“Over the years we’ve had private companies want to use airport grounds to operate a business,” said Schleisman. “Currently we’re working just with our fixed base operator, Air Advantage Inc., as the manager of our airport.”

In other business, the house, currently on the airport property, will be demolished by June. Once the roof is removed, the fire department will use the location for search and rescue practice. From there a controlled burn will take place and the ground will be seeded. The garage currently on the property will be maintained for storage use. The board hopes to see this accomplished by June 1.
