Alijah Beatty one of 15 athletes named to Team USA for Junior Track Worlds

Aug 11, 2017

Colorado Springs, Colo. — USA Cycling announced this week the 15 athletes named to Team USA for the 2017 UCI Junior Track World Championships slated for Aug. 23-27 in Montichiari, Italy.

The team announcement comes on the heels of last week’s Junior & Elite Track National Championships which awarded 48 national titles to the top track cyclists in the nation.

“We witnessed a lot of talent at Nationals in LA and I think we have a top notch group going to Italy,” said Jim Miller, USA Cycling’s VP of High Performance. “I’m especially excited about the men’s team pursuit squad as we expect them to really be competitive.”

Alijah Beatty (Washington, Iowa/NorthStar Development Cycling) won an incredible six national titles at Track Nationals and will represent Team USA in those same events when she makes her way to Italy this month. She’ll kit up for both endurance and sprint events in Italy as she contests the omnium, team pursuit, individual pursuit, points race, scratch race, and keirin.

In the team pursuit, Beatty will combine forces with teammates Claire Reeves (Grand Rapids, Mich./Sprinter’s Edge), McKenzie Steiner (Del Mar, Calif./Swami’s Junior Development Team), and Sawyer Taylor (San Rafael, Calif./JAKROO p/b Chrome Industries), while Taylor also will join Beatty for the individual pursuit.
