Bertha Belle McBride

Bertha Belle McBride, 95, of Farmington, died on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at the Clark County Nursing Home, in Kahoka, Mo.

Friends called from 2 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at the Schmitz Funeral Home, in Farmington, where the family received friends from 2 to 4 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, in Farmington, with Rev. Chad Welch officiating. Burial was at Greenglade Cemetery, in Farmington.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Farmington or Clark County Nursing Home Activities Fund. Online condolences may be sent to the family at The Schmitz Funeral Home, in Farmington, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

McBride was born on April 28, 1921, the daughter of Earl and Florea (Hopp) Cochenour. She was united in marriage on Jan. 11, 1941, in Memphis, Mo., to Clair A. McBride.

She was employed at Moores Business Forms, in Kahoka, Mo., for a number of years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Farmington.

She enjoyed crochet, embroidery, sewing, cooking, camping with her family at Western Illinois Old Threshers and Mt. Pleasant Old Threshers, and spending time with her friends and family.

McBride is survived by her son, Clair B. (Marlene) McBride, of Farmington; a daughter, Nancie Holmes, of Kahoka, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Earl Wayne (Betty) Cochenour, of Luray, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clair A. McBride; her daughter, Betty (Jeannie) DeWitt; two granddaughters in infancy; one great-great-grandson in infancy; three sisters, Eva Shaffer, Doris Hines, and Barbara Claouser; and two brothers, Sherman Robert Cochenour and Gary Franklin Cochenour.
