Bertilla C. “Tillie” Becker, 85, West Point, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at the West Point Care Center in West Point.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point where a parish rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point with Fr. Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lee County Hospice or West Point Care Center.

Online condolences may be made at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point is in charge of the arrangements.

Born Jan. 23, 1928, in Ft. Madison, she was the daughter of Frank and Eva (Moeller) Harvey. On Oct. 18, 1948, she married Bernard J. Becker. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of St Mary’s of Assumption Catholic Church in West Point, the Altar and Rosary Society, Daughter’s of Isabella and the West Point American Legion Auxiliary. She retired from Sheaffer Pen Company. She enjoyed quilting, dancing, traveling, making rosaries, playing cards and going out to eat.

Survivors include one son, Gary (Laura) Becker of West Point; five daughters, Janice (David) Campbell of Ft. Madison, Joni (Dan) Vice of Ft. Madison, Judy (Ken) Wasoba of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jeannie (Dan) Holterhaus of Ft. Madison, and Jackie (Russell) Hill of New London; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bertha Merschbrock of West Point, Ruby (Leroy) Seager of West Point, and Mary Lou (David) Jorgenson of Norwalk.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Larry and B.J.; and two brothers, Alvin and Frank.
