Bowling teams roll out of Keokuk without the ‘W’

KEOKUK— The Mt. Pleasant bowling teams had their hands full on Tuesday evening as they traveled to Keokuk to take on an extremely tough Chiefs team.

Both teams fell in their road meet. The girls were outscored 2,434-2,014 and the boys were outshot 2,957-2,396.

The girls’ team was above the 2,000 mark for the third-straight meet. The Panthers were led by Alexis Wohlleber, who threw a 126 in her first game and a 154 in her second to finish at 280. Emily Shumaker was just one pin behind her, throwing a 121 and a 158 to end the day at 279. Kelsey Hummell was just behind them, throwing a 150 and a 127 to finish at 277.

Gillian Anderson began the day with a 122 and scored 128 in the second round for a total of 250. Brittany Triska rolled a 127 and a 115 to finish up at 242. Rachel Kuckes bowled a 92 and an 82 for a score of 174.

Baker games for the Mt. Pleasant girls went 165, 136, 167, 113 and 105 for a final score of 686.

The boys’ team was led by Sam Anderson, who rolled a 180 and a 174 to finish the day at 354. Tristan Dirth was second on the team, bowling a 153 and a 196 to score 349. Brandon Parton rolled a 176 and a 143 for a final score of 319.

Levi Mills threw a 147 and a 155 to give MPCHS a fourth scorer over 300, with 302. Ethan Oilar rolled a 123 and a 141 for a total of 264 and Mark Steinhoff rolled a 115 and a 113 for a total of 228.

Baker games for the varsity boys went 141, 169, 151, 190 and 157 to total out at 808.

The junior varsity boys fell 1,984-1,522. Kalib Wilson led the JV team with a 299 (132, 167). Baryon Lopez rolled a 203 (112, 91). Ben Baccam finished up at 183 (104, 79). Mason Pounsavan rolled a 179 (113, 66), and Payton Lovan bowled a 160 (82, 78).

Baker games for the JV boys went 112, 78, 73, 124 and 111 for a total score of 489.
