Carol Nemitz of Mt. Pleasant will serve as the grand marshal of the 2013 Iowa Wesleyan College Homecoming parade.

The parade will be on Saturday, Oct. 12. It will begin at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Howe Student Activity Center on the Iowa Wesleyan campus; continue south on Broadway, then turn east on Madison St., then turn north on Main Street to return to campus.

The much loved and revered Nemitz began as counselor to women at Iowa Wesleyan in the fall of 1963.  She became the first woman to serve on the vice-president level when, in 1978, she was named vice-president of student personnel.   This is the second time Nemitz has served as grand marshal. The entire homecoming weekend will be dedicated to her.

Entries are still being accepted for the parade. Area businesses and organizations are encouraged to contact Kat Niemann, director of student activities, at 319-385-6262 if they would like to participate.

Iowa Wesleyan Homecoming includes a variety of activities for students, alumni and friends of the college. A complete schedule of activities can be found at
