Chapter NZ P.E.O. July meeting

Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood met for their regular meeting on Monday, July 23, in the home of Joyce Dennison with Sara Titus, Deb Mascarenas, Pat Heusmann and Patty Madden serving as co-hostesses. President Lana Moeller presided at the 1 p.m. business meeting with 26 members present.

Chaplain Lea McCormick shared the scripture. Recording secretary Jan Lange read the minutes from the previous meeting. Mascarenas gave the financial report. Jean Thomson shared the correspondence.

Elizabeth Garrels reported that the Heritage Tour for Presidents and organizers from across the U.S. and Canada went very well. There were 52 guests for the tour. Ways & Means chairman Kathy Schimmeilpfennig thanked Marcia Kentner, Kathie McWhirter and Joyce Dennison for helping with sales for the tour visitors.

Garrels, sesquicentennial committee member, shared that the ordering deadline for the pictorial history book, “We Who Are Sisters — 150 years of the P.E.O. Sisterhood,” is July 31.

Committee member Karen Brimhall thanked all involved in the Pies in the Park fundraiser. The bronze-colored metal sign is now up in front of Old Main on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan University (IW) along with the P.E.O. banners up for Heritage Tour and metal signs identifying P.E.O. landmarks.

At the close of the meeting, Connie and Phil Geiser shared interesting and wonderful highlights through dialogue and a PowerPoint presentation of their recent trip to the Holy Land. Refreshments were served. Vice President Connie Geiser thanked the hostess and co-hostesses.

The next regular meeting is Monday, Aug. 27 at Schimmeilpfennig’s home with Marcia Kentner, Betty Becker, Carolyn Reid, Sally Anderson and Kelley Tansey serving as co-hostesses. The program will be “Celebrating a Healthy Lifestyle,” by Kadi Johannson. There also will be a special meeting on Tuesday, July 31, at 1:30 p.m. at Sharon Davis’ home.
