Charles P. VanZile, 75, Rome, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at the Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Rome Baptist Church with the Rev. Guy Sammons officiating. Following the service, full military honors will be conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard.

He was born on Jan. 27, 1938, in Warsaw, Ill., and was the son of Erwin and Nelle Bliss Burkhart VanZile. He graduated from Warsaw High School, and was inducted into the Army on Sept. 6, 1961, and served until he was honorably discharged on August 10, 1963. He married Eloise Calhoun on Oct. 7, 1967. He was a truck driver for R.H. Hummer for over 22 years.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Keith Kelley of Rome, Jason VanZile of Mt. Pleasant, Terry VanZile of Blountstown, Fla.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
