Charlotte A. Smith, 83, Farmington, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington, where the family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Farmington United Methodist Church with the Rev. Goldie Laymon officiating. Burial will be in the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

The Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington is assisting the family with the arrangements.

she was born July 8, 1929, at Farmington, the daughter of Clarence and Edna Collins Coffin. On July 10, 1947 at Farmington, she married Howard L. Smith. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church where she served as financial secretary a member of the Farmington Cemetery Association and the P.E.O. She was a graduate of Farmington High School and worked at Thompson’s Variety Store, Smith and Kerr’s and Ferrellgas.

She enjoyed camping, playing cards, dancing, attending the Iowa State Fair and time spent in the Beartooth Mountains. She also enjoyed spending time with family.

Survivors include one son, Richard (Donna) Smith of Billings, Mont.; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Charles Coffin of Keosauqua; and one sister, Iris Kerr of Farmington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Effie Coffin, and one granddaughter.
