Apr 06, 2018

The City of Mt. Pleasant will hold its annual Spring Clean Up during the week of April 23 through April 27.

Spring Clean Up is a one-week opportunity for residents of Mt. Pleasant to rid their homes of unusual or large items that are too big to fit into a garbage bag for regular garbage collection. Collection work is done by Wemiga Waste. Spring Clean Up will be picked up on residents regular normal garbage collection day.

Items not picked up for Spring Clean Up include tires, waste oil, batteries, roof shingles, or ashes; liquids, such as antifreeze; household chemicals or wet paint; construction materials of any kind such as drywall or wood; TVs and computer monitors; yard waste; and appliances.

When placing items on the curb, leave lids off paint cans so collectors can see that the paint is dry and collect it. Wet paint of any kind will not be collected.

Carpet will be accepted, but must be tightly rolled and tied to be collected.

Stickers should be adhered to items no earlier than the morning of residents pickup date to ensure scavengers don’t take the adhered to item. Pile size is limited to six feet wide, eight feet long and four feet tall. This excludes a separated metal pile. Residents are required to use a minimum of six stickers for their entire pile.

For questions regarding Spring Clean Up, contact Public Works at 319-385-1480. They are available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
