Turning 90 years old on Wednesday, Sept. 13, Wilma McAllister celebrated the occasion with family members and friends, including her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Steve Williams, of Anamosa, their son, Tom Williams, and daughter-in-law, Ruth McAllister, of Crawfordsville. Also in attendance were McAllister’s many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A special guest, Sherri McCoy from Red Lake, Ontario, Canada, came especially to celebrate McAllister’s special day. McAllister and McCoy became acquainted many years ago while vacationing with her daughter and son-in-law at their cabin on the lake.

A reminder that the annual Harvest Supper and Auction at the United Church of Crawfordsville will be held Saturday, Oct. 28. The supper will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., with the auction beginning at 7 p.m.

The menu will feature beefburgers and chicken and biscuits, pies and salads. All this for a freewill offering. The auction is asking community members for items to contribute. David Erwin will be the auctioneer.

On Saturday, Nov. 11, a Soup Supper will be held at the church from 4:30 p.m.to 7 p.m. Oyster, chili and potato soup will be on the menu, along with relishes and desserts. This is a freewill offering.

For those in the community who remember Rev. Harlan Winter, former pastor of the United Methodist Church and the United Church of Crawfordsville, he will be observing his 80th birthday on Oct. 15. His family would like the community to help him celebrate with a card shower. Cards may be sent to Harlan at 3006 SE Turnberry Dr., Ankeny, IA 50021.
