The United Church Women met Tuesday, Dec. 12, for a luncheon at the Applewood Bistro in Washington with 11 in attendance.

Following lunch, a business meeting was held. Debbie Lowe presented the meditation “God’s Story” from the book “Small Stuff” followed by prayer. Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read in unison.

Minutes of the Nov. 14, meeting were read by Secretary Billie Jo Rose and approved as read. The Treasurer’s report was given and will be filed for audit.

Thank you notes from various organizations and from those who had received holiday boxes and a letter from the mission in Belize were read along with the committee reports. In local activities, a funeral luncheon had been served by the United Church Women. Wilma McAllister reported on the projects the ladies had completed this year, namely 79 quilts completed and 146 school bags. Donna Fletcher also completed many T-shirt dresses.

After reports were given, the Least Coin offering and the Fellowship of the Least Coin was read together.

Afterward, changes to the 2018 Guidelines for Giving were made and 2018 Program Books were distributed.

The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, and McAllister will be hostess and have meditations.

Lowe thanked everyone for coming and wished everyone a Merry and Blessed Christmas. She closed with Isaiah 9:6.

In other news, approximately 175 signed the guest book at the retirement party honoring Janet Whiting for 43 years of service at the Peoples Savings Bank at Crawfordsville on Saturday, Dec. 16. The bank hosted the party in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Crawfordsville.
