Lions make donation to Camp Courageous, move to sponsor annual Easter Egg Hunt
By Billie Jo Rose | Feb 19, 2018

The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, Feb. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Crawfordsville Community Room with 16 members present.

Lion President Lance Miller called the meeting to order and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Larry Love gave the invocation.

After a meal was prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.

The minutes of the Jan. 22, meeting were approved as read. The treasurer reported no activity in either account. Thank you notes were read from a recipient of a gift at the Christmas drawing, as well as one from a student who had received a monetary donation for Student Volunteers in Optometric Service in Humanity. A request for funds was read from the Iowa Lions Intenational Youth Exchange Camp was made and the club decided to fund this.

The Crawfordsville Lions Club has requested that the Lions sponsor the Annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 31. It was moved, seconded and approved to do so. After discussion about the service that Camp Courageous renders to those who are disabled, it was approved to make a donation to the camp. It was noted that it is time to activate the nominating committee for next year’s officers. The nominating committee consists of the current president and the two most recent past presidents, Lance, Rose and Stogdill.

The slate of officers needs to be presented at the first March meeting and voted on at the second March meeting so that the slate is in place by the first meeting in April to be reported to LCI.

The meeting adjourned and Tail Twister Fletcher collected fines from those without pins and conducted a round of trivia.

The Crawfordsville Community Club has requested the Lions sponsor their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31, at 9:30 a.m. at the Crawfordsville Ball Field. It will follow the Fire Department Pancake Breakfast. There also will be a special appearance by the Easter Bunny.
