Darlene M. Christner, 90, Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Park Place Elder Living in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 10:30 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery, rural Rome. A memorial has been established to the White Oak Cemetery in her memory.

She was born on Dec. 28, 1922, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Alva and Grace Mulnix Hendricks. She married Dale Christner on April 9, 1938, in Jefferson County. She helped her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed traveling and camping. She also enjoyed quilting, square dancing, taking vacations to Branson, and helping with the Trolley at Midwest Old Threshers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant.

She is survived by her children, Ronald Christner of Wayland, Mo., Arnold (Billie) Christner of Rifle, Colo., Gene (Sandy) Christner of Mt. Pleasant, Mary (George) Parker of New London, Sherry (Harold) Grant of Wayland, and Michael Christner of Riverside; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Wanda Ridinger; three grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters.
