Dean Richard Cordes, 86, Sun City, Ariz., died at Banner Alzheimer’s Residence in Peoria, Ariz. on Jan. 14, 2013.

In honor of his wishes, the body will be cremated. There will be no services.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1926, at Gilmore City, to Claus H. and Andrea (Kaiser) Cordes. In 1936, the family moved to Mt. Pleasant. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1944. In December 1944 he enlisted in the Army and served in various locations in the Pacific.

In 1948, he was married to Lila Jeane Godwin, also of Mt. Pleasant. For many years he operated the Cordes Real Estate business. In the late 1950s he served on the Mt. Pleasant City Council. In 1967, the family relocated to Phoenix, Ariz., where he was employed by the City of Phoenix Real Estate Division, serving for many years as the supervisor of the Real Estate Acquisition Section.

In 1986 he retired and moved to Sun City, Ariz. In 2000, he was married to Shirley F. Bivins of Sun City.

He enjoyed traveling and flying small airplanes.

He is survived by his wife; his two sons, Tom of Issaquah, Wash., and David of Rock Island, Ill. one grandson; one great-granddaughter; two step-children, Linda Menna of Sun City, Ariz. and Mike Langston of New Braunfels, Texas; five step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and two brothers, Bill of Wickenburg, Ariz. and Ron of San Clemente, Calif.
