Debra Ann McCall Richart

Debra Ann McCall Richart, 63, of New London, died on Jan. 18, 2017, at Great River Hospice House, in West Burlington.

The funeral service for Richart will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 23, at the New London Christian Church. Rev. Rod Cooper and Rev. Nathan Cooper will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 22, at the church from 3 to 6 p.m. According to her wishes, immediately following the service, her body will be cremated. A private family inurnment of her cremains will be held at a later date at Burge Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Sandra J. Schulze American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, in Rochester, Minn.; the Great River Hospice House; and Stir the Fire Ministry. Elliott Chapel, in New London, is in charge of the arrangements.

Richart was born on May 19, 1953, in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of Arthur J. and Betty J. Prasch Smutzer. She was a 1971 graduate of Burlington High School. She was first married to Richard Ross, and they later divorced. In 1977, she married Terrill McCall, in Mediapolis. He preceded her in death. She then married Mike Richart on Nov. 24, 2001, in Danville.

She worked as an insurance agent, most recently for Bob Dodds Insurance, in New London.

She was a former member of Harmony Bible Church and a member of New London Christian Church.

She enjoyed music, tending to her garden and flowers, being outdoors, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and friends.

Richart is survived by her husband, Mike; four daughters, Temple (Chad) Christner, Tasha (Darrick) Gipple, and Jennifer Mullenix, all of New London; and Anna (John) Haire, of Sartell, Minn.; one stepson, Ross (Jessie) Richart; two step- daughters, Casey (Richard) Ford, and Shawna (Jonathan) Ornelas; her mother, Betty Smutzer, of Burlington; three sisters, Terri (Roy) Norton, Kathy (Seldon) Conover, and Mary (Mark) Beik, all of Burlington; two brothers, Arthur (Judy) Smutzer, of Andover, Ill., and Gary (Dorothy) Smutzer, of Grain Valley, Mo.; and 17 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Terrill McCall; a son, Aaron Ross; and two brothers, Robert Smutzer and Greg Smutzer.
