Dennis Ivan Teel, 67, Coppock, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City.

Graveside services with military honors from American Legion Post #29 will be at 11 a.m., Monday, July 14, at the Cottonwood Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Wolf officiating. Vistitation will begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with family present from 3 to 5 p.m. A general memorial in his name has been established.

He was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Washington, and was the son of Ray and Alene (Hayes) Teel. He attended Washington schools and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He married Judy (Williams) Arbogast on Sept. 5, 1998.

He was a truck driver for Dickey Transport, mechanic at Don’s tire and service in Brighton and pressman for newspapers in Kansas and Alaska. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and was mayor of Coppock. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, camping, stock car racing and playing the guitar.

Survivors include his wife; children, Scott Teel of Chanute, Kan., Julia (Jamie Behr) Crawford of Plymouth, Wis., Richard (Millie Sheldon) Teel of Kiana, Ark., Mechell Roberts (Daryl) of Clinton, Mo., Michelle Parker of Ariz., Kimberly Pohren (Neil), Lisa Wilsey, Todd Williams (April) all of Burlington; brother, Richard (Gloria) Teel of Wasilla, Ark.; sister, Rae Ann (Roger) Stouder of Ft. Madison; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Everett; and previous wife, Dixie Sieren.
