Donna J. Ensminger, 81, of Rome and the White Oak community, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Park Place Elder Living Center in Mt. Pleasant.

 

Donna Jean was born on March 23, 1937, in Henry County the daughter of Homer Miller & Georgia Doris Coppock Scarff. She was united in marriage to George Ensminger Jr. on June 15, 1956, at Trenton. Donna worked at Mt. Pleasant Bank and Trust as a bookkeeper, Graber Tax Service, Orscheln Farm and Home Supply, Henry County Health Center retiring in 2003.

 

She was an active farmer helping her husband on the family farm for many years. She was a member of the White Oak and Trenton Missionary Churches and later attended the Rome Baptist Church. She was known for her musical talents and had been church pianist for 62 years. She has sung in churches, funerals and numerous weddings. Donna was an avid football fan both college and professional, she was particularly fond of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Some of her favorite times was spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donna was always proud of their many accomplishments.

 

Donna is survived by her husband, George Ensminger Jr. of Rome; and her children: Dianna Lynn Wellington, of Mt. Pleasant, Richard Allen Ensminger of Louisville, Tenn. and Rachel Neis of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren: Shane, Leah, Mallory and Lillian; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

 

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Bettie Watson.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Rome Baptist Church with Pastor Guy Sammons officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery, rural Rome. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Trenton Missionary Church or to Rome Baptist Church in her memory.
