Dorothy Francene Muntz, 86, of the Keosauqua Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua and formerly of Farmington, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington with the family meeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Her body has been cremated. There will be no formal funeral service. Burial will be at a later date at the Bonaparte Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Farmington Fire Department.

Born Feb. 1, 1927, in Farmington, she was the daughter of Bertha Lillian Brady.

On Dec. 21, 1946, she married Arlet Dale (Bud) Muntz. He preceded her in death.

She worked at the Bonaparte and Donnellson Sale Barns, Barker Wire and Pioneer Seed Corn. She loved her family and horses. She also enjoyed gardening, house plants, baking and making candy. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.

The Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn (Bill) Higgens of Keokuk; one son, Terry Lee (Cindy Meade) Muntz of Vernon; one half-brother, Dale (Carol) Muntz of Farmington; one half-sister, Virginia Steele of Ottumwa; two grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband; a half-sister, Marilyn Owens; and half-brother, Sidney Stocker.
