Eighth-grade girls take on conference foes

The Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade girls have played three Southeast Conference opponents in the last 10 days.

The Panthers hosted Fairfield on Monday, Nov. 6, and Keokuk on Thursday, Nov. 8, before hitting the road to play Ft. Madison on Tuesday.

The Panther “A” team went 2-1 over that stretch. The “A” team fell 29-18 to Fairfield before bouncing back to pick up a 27-17 win over Keokuk and a 36-27 win over Ft. Madison.

The “A” team was led by Lydia Ebeling against Fairfield. She scored six points, and the trio of Kenna Lamm, Ava Lowery and Savana Walls scored four apiece.

Lowery led the team against Keokuk with 13 points. Lamm scored eight and Walls tallied six.

The “A” team had two double-digit scorers against Ft. Madison. Walls had 13 points and Lowery added 12. Lamm scored six points in the win. Ebeling and Abby Blint scored two apiece and Jenna Gilmore had one.

The “B” team went 2-1 as well, topping Fairfield 20-5 and Ft. Madison 14-4, but falling to Keokuk 20-14.

Sami Wibben led the team against Fairfield, scoring eight points. Thanh Phung and Jaden Brumbaugh had four points apiece, and Kahlia Parrish and Tralyn Kratofil finished with two.

Brumbaugh and Regan Seberg scored four points apiece in the loss against Keokuk. Wibben, Kratofil and Hannah Hoyle each had two.

Kratofil led the “B” team with six points on Tuesday in Ft. Madison. Seberg scored four points in the win, and both Wibben and Clare Schnicker tallied two.

Both the “A” team and the “B” team are 4-1 to start the season. They will be on the road to play Aldo Leopold on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 4:30 p.m.
