Fellowship Cup offering free backpacks, asking for donations

Aug 09, 2017

By Grace King, Mt. Pleasant News

The Fellowship Cup Food Pantry is asking for more donations for their annual book bag drive.

For those who qualify or are already clients of the food pantry, free book bags with basic school supplies are first come, first serve on Monday, Aug. 14, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Every year, The Fellowship Cup, who’s mission is to provide food, clothing and shelter to the underserved of Henry County, provides backpacks to 220 to 230 students. They also try to provide 70 percent of needed classroom items such as colored pencils, markers, binders and spiral notebooks, but suggest you check individual classroom lists to get the supplies they can’t provide.

If you are not already a food pantry client, you can come the day of the book bag drive and sign up to see if you qualify.

Donations can be dropped off at 203 N. Jefferson St., Mt. Pleasant, from now until Friday, Aug. 11, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
