G. William “Bill” Barr, 85, of Washington, died on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at the McCreedy Home.

A celebration of life for Barr will be held on Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at 11 a.m., at the Beatty Funeral Home, in Washington. Burial will follow at the Green Mound Cemetery, in Trenton. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Beatty Funeral Home, in Washington.

A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County.

Barr was born on Dec. 10, 1930, in Trenton Township, the son of Jess and Dorcas (Ball) Barr. He attended Crawford #4 Rural School. In August of 1952, he was drafted into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in July of 1953.

He worked for the Washington Sewer Department for many years.

He enjoyed going to Old Threshers, old trains, steam engines, tractors and cars, taking rides in the country, attending flea markets in What Cheer, going to the Swedesburg Museum, and attending the Swedish pancake breakfast at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Barr is survived by four sisters, Wynona Woods, of Corydon; and Vada Secrest, Alice Hesser, and Hazel Sinn, all of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; and one brother, Roger (Nancy) Barr.
