Gerald Dwight “Gerry” Morrison

Gerald Dwight “Gerry” Morrison, 74, of Danville, died Friday, June 23, 2017, at his home.

According to his wishes, Morrison has been cremated and inurnment will be held in Long Creek Cemetery, rural Danville at a later date. A memorial has been established.

Elliott Chapel, New London is handling the arrangements.

Morrison was born May 1, 1943, in Burlington the son of Homer R. “Bill” and Hygiene Eleanor “Jean” Carter Morrison. He owned and operated Morrison Trucking, which he took over in the early 1980s when his father retired. He graduated from Danville High School and was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed sprint car racing and going to the Daytona 500. He loved riding his Harley Davidson especially out to Sturgis and had won several awards with it. And he loved his bulldogs.

Morrison is survived by a son, Steve Morrison, of Danville; a daughter, Lisa Morrison, of Burlington; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marlene DeMarlie.
