Grading to begin on Grand Avenue

Mar 29, 2013

Pavement has been recycled on Grand Avenue from Baker Street south to Mapleleaf Drive and the recycling project is moving northward to the area between Baker and Winfield Avenue, according to Warner Engineering, the engineering firm for the project.

DeLong Construction of Washington, the general contractor for the project, soon will be installing storm sewer along the east side of Grand Avenue from Baker Street to Mapleleaf Drive.

Later next week DeLong plans to start grading from Mapleleaf Drive. As the grading begins, dump trucks will be crossing the Baker Street intersection and the Winfield Avenue intersection, exiting the project to the north. The excavated material will be transported to a site owned by the city at the northwest corner of James and Grand avenues.

The Mapleleaf Drive, Baker Street and Winfield Avenue intersections will remain open to traffic. Grand Avenue will remain open from Washington Street to Mapleleaf Drive. The frontage road on the east side of Grand Avenue from Mapleleaf Drive to Winfield Avenue will be the detour route from North Grand Avenue.
