Guest speaker comes to IWC

Mar 12, 2013

Iowa Wesleyan College’s 2013 Manning Speaker, A.J. Jacobs, will present two lectures on Thursday, March 14.

At 11 a.m. will be “Fake it Till You Make It: The Power of Pretending to be a Better Person.”

At 7 p.m. will be “The Year of Living Biblically.”

Both programs will be held in the Chapel Auditorium on the IWC campus in Mt. Pleasant. They are free and open to the public.

For Jacobs’ best-selling book, “The Year of Living Biblically: One Man’s Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible,” he attempted to abide by the hundreds of rules in the Bible, from the famous to the often neglected. Jacobs manages to find humor in his attempts to comply with the more arcane strictures, but also, somewhat unexpectedly, finds comfort and meaning in both the rituals and the meaning of the Old Testament.

These free lectures are made possible by funding from the Clifford and Maxine Manning Annual Speaker Series at IWC.
