Harriet A. Adam, 87, Fairfield, died at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield on Wednesday, June 19, 2013.

A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Stephen Page officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Open visitation will be from noon until 4 p.m. Friday at the Raymond Funereal Home and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Hospice Compasses of Cedar Rapids. Condolences may be sent to the family at Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

She was born July 24, 1925, in Washington, and was the daughter of Charles F. and Clara Hammes Greiner. She married Elmer M. Adam.

The couple started farming in 1947 in Washington County, then moved to Jefferson County in 1951.

She was a housewife and homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield and Helping Hands.

Mr. Adam preceded her in death.

Her hobbies were watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Boston Red Sox baseball, gardening, flowers, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include seven children, Dennis (Andra) Adam, Bonnie (Mike) Kessel, Robert (Nanette) Adam, James (Rebecca) Adam, Marvin Joseph (JoAnn) Adam, all of Fairfield, Charles (Susan) Adam of La Belle, Mo., and Jan (Mike) McDonough of Ottumwa; 15 grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Wilford Greiner of Washington; and sister, Marrietta Greiner of Campbellport, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild, parents, six brothers and two sisters.
