The upcoming community birthdays and anniversaries for December have been announced. Happy birthday to Verda Boley and Holly Sheriff, 15; Barb Reinier, Ron Kruse and Holly Pratt, 16; Norma Whitaker, 17; Cassie Rasmussen, Melissa Christians, Deb Hudson, Dick Magdefrau and Allie Westercamp, 19; George Prevett, 20; Gary Page, Skylar Wilson and Lydia Rolon, 21. Happy anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Deao, 21. On Monday, Dec. 9, Dwight Stanley, Gene Carter and Chad Brousseau were sworn in for four years of service as Hillsboro City Council members. The Hillsboro City Council meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Hillsboro Community Center. The meetings are open to the public.
The Hillsboro Christian Church is hosting a "Oh Come Let Us Adore Him, In a Celebration of Life" event on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m. at the Hillsboro Christian Church. There will be a soup supper with a time for fellowship and sharing.
Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to Hillsboro on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Hillsboro Community Center from 9-10:30 a.m. The Hillsboro City Council is sponsoring this event and will be serving breakfast to anyone in the community who would like to come and eat pancakes and sausage with Santa and Mrs. Claus. One of the elves and Rudolph will be accompanying Santa and Mrs. Claus this year.
The Hillsboro Public Library is once again proud to provide refreshments for the Dec. 23 Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center's Blood Drive. Community members can save up to three lives with one unit (about a pint) donation. To donate you need to weigh at least 110 pounds and be 17 years old. However, 16 year olds can also give if a parent signs a permission waiver. There is no upper age limit.
MVRBC is the provider of life-saving blood products to most hospitals in the area. They rely on volunteer donors to supply the tremendous needs of families, friends and neighbors. Mark your calendar for Monday, Dec. 23, at the HIllsboro Communtiy Center from 3:30-5 p.m. To schedule an appointment visit, click on "Imact" and follow the onscreen instructions if you are already a MVRBC blood donor or not yet a MVRBC blood donor. If you do not have internet access call 800-747-5401 x119. Online scheduling is not available 72 hours prior to blood drive. Drop-in donors are always welcome.
