News from Cheryl Bell, Rural Hillsboro: Cheryl Bell, rural Hillsboro and her good friend, Linda Weeks, Ft. Madison, had planned to celebrate their 70th birthdays six months late, with a trip to Iowa City. The two met almost 30 years ago when each had enrolled at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington as non-traditional students, and worked in the work-study program in the same office there. Their birthday trip ended with a real adventure. As they were visiting Wednesday morning, the subject of President Trump’s scheduled visit to Cedar Rapids that evening came up. In the previous week, both ladies had received two recorded telephone invitations to the event from Laura Trump, daughter-in-law of the President. Neither had made reservations because of the distance from home…but Linda did some research online and discovered tickets were still available, and with Cedar Rapids being not that far from Iowa City, they decided to go see, hear and show their support for President Trump.

Cheryl Bell, rural Hillsboro, traveled to Burlington Thursday night to watch grandson Samuel Bell play T-ball. Others of the family present to watch the game were Samuel’s parents, Mark and Courtney, sister, Clara Jo, and Courtney’s mother, Nancy Tarbell. After the game, Cheryl had supper with the Bells. Courtney made her famous homemade Taco Pizza. It was delicious.
