Friendly 4 Corners 4-H Club is celebrating 65 years with an anniversary picnic. They will meet on Sunday, June 16, at the Roberts Memorial Building north of Keosauqua at 12:30 p.m. and eat at 1 p.m.

The present club members will provide the meat and drink and ask you to bring a covered dish. Farm Bureau will be providing table service.

All past and present members, leaders and families are invited to celebrate the day. Join them and share your record books, memorabilia, awards, photographs, news articles, etc.

The Hillsboro Public Library director, Casey Lefflel, is preparing for the upcoming summer reading program at the library.

The independent reading program “Dig into Reading” kick-off is scheduled for Monday, June 10. Watch for postings at the library and in the paper for more details.

The Hillsboro Public Library is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 to 11 a.m.

If you are not a patron of the library, new in town or just have not visited the library for a few years you may want to stop by and fill out an application for a library card or renew the one that has been in your wallet for the last several years.

Remember, it does not cost to have a library card or to check out some of the great books or movies that are setting on the shelves as long as you return them before the due date.

If you cannot make it to the library to return the books or movies you borrow during the library hours, you can drop them off in the drop box at the east driveway of the library’s parking lot or give Casey a call at 319-253-4000 and ask him to renew the books or movies.

Here are some of the new donations on the Hillsboro Public Library shelves:

Adult fiction: “Lord of Ice” by Gaelen Foley, “Sabrina” by Mary Kingsley, “Passion’s Fire” by Cassie Edwards, “Convenient Vows” by Christine Rimmer and “The Naked Duke” by Sally MacKenzie.

If you have any family or community news that you would like published in the Hillboro News, please email or call by Sunday at 5 p.m.
