Spring cleaning curb pickup April 7

The Hillsboro Fire and Rescue Annual Pancake and Sausage Supper was Saturday, March 17. Pancakes and sausage was served to a crowd of hungry community members, some of whom stayed to play Bingo.

This year was the first time the event has had a six time winner at Bingo — Mark Novak, of Fairfield. The blackout winner was Cathy Giberson, of Fairfield. There was many other winners with lots of great prizes won.

The Hillsboro Fire and Rescue men and women would like to thank everyone who came and enjoyed the supper, Bingo and fellowship and a special thank you to the businesses and individuals who donated the prizes for Bingo.

Upcoming, Hillsboro spring cleaning is April 7. Items should be placed on the curb by 7 a.m. There is a flyer that can be picked up at City Hall during business hours with the items that will or will not be accepted.

Items include unwanted miscellaneous household items; windows and doors in moderation; carpet rolled and tied in six foot lengths; appliances such as washers, dryers, water heaters, air conditioning units, refrigerators, microwaves and stoves (last three must be clean from food waste); miscellaneous scrap metal items; used oil (5 gallon limit); dried latex paint only; limit of four tires per household (no tractor tires); limit two TVs and two computer monitors and towers.

Items not accepted are oil base paint, chemicals, concrete, brick or ashes.

This clean up is not to be used by people remodeling their house or rental property. Containers will be needed to be ordered for such projects. For questions, call 319-986-6919.
