History made at New London track

NEW LONDON — It was a historic night for the New London track and field programs as the school hosted their first meet at their brand new track. The Tigers picked up plenty of wins in their first home meet, placing second in the girls’ standings with 142 points and third in the boys’ standings with 93 points.

Wapello took first in the boys’ standings, leading the field with 206 points on the night. Danville won the girls’ meet with 172 points.

The girls’ team won seven events on the night, three of which were relays. The 4X400 team of Camryn Blint, Savannah Sutherland, Peyton Jackson and Carson McSorley won in 4:21.51. The 4X800 team of Kara Krieger, Katherine McAllister, Peyton Jackson and McSorley took first in 4:21.51, and the distance medley team of Jenna Hummell, Blint, Sutherland and McSorley won in 4:22.65.

Hummell took the 200-meter dash, winning the race in 27.03 seconds. Lexi Brown won the 3000-meter run in 11:36.10. McSorley won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.75, and Sutherland took first in the high jump with a leap of 4-10.

The boys’ team had a trio of wins as well. Dallas Bell won the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.93 seconds. The 4X400 team of Jordy Johnson, Kyler Martin, Curry Jacobs and Dallas Bell crossed in 3:44.53, and the distance medley squad of Keontae Luckett, Matt Oliver, Johnson and Martin took first in 3:50.90.
