FENTON, Mo. — The IW men’s soccer team played their first SLIAC game of the year on Saturday. The Tigers and Gorloks battled through regulation and two overtimes, but neither team would break in the extra periods and the contest ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Tigers had to battle back from an early deficit. Webster’s Michael Bladridge opened the game up with a goal in the 12th minute and the Gorloks led 1-0 at halftime.

Once again it was a strong second half that lifted the Tiger men. Alvaro Sebastian tied the game with a goal in the 49th minute, and Tevin Yen gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead with a goal off an assist from David Hualca in the 71st minute.

Just over one minute later, Webster tied the game back up. The Gorloks knotted the score up when David Allred sent a shot to the back of the net to end the scoring at 2-2.

The shots on goal were even for the two squads. Both IW and Webster finished the game with five. Blas Villaseca led the Tigers in total shots, with eight. Sebastian’s two shots on goal led the squad as well.

Trevor Haasis made three saves in net, allowing just the two goals over 110 minutes.

The Tigers moved to 4-4-2 overall this season and 0-0-1 in SLIAC play. IW will host Spalding University on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m.
