IW places third in SLIAC women’s golf tournament

EUREKA, Mo. — The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference hosted the first women’s golf conference tournament over the past two days. After finishing in third at the end of day one, Iowa Wesleyan failed to move up a spot and took third in the event. Spalding took the top spot with a team score of 675 through two days of play. Iowa Wesleyan finished with a team score of 875.

The Tigers were led by sophomore, Hannah Lien, who turned in a final score of 204.

Lien ended day one with a 98 through eighteen holes. She shot a 106 in the second day of play, which put her in 10th place overall. Lien earned Second Team All-Conference honors for her play in the tournament.

Madelyn Calease was the next best finisher for Iowa Wesleyan. Calease was consistent in her play throughout the tournament. She shot a 106 on day one and shot a 107 today for a final score of 213. Calease took twelfth place overall.

Darby Massner finished thirteenth overall after finishing with a final score of 219 in the two-day event. Massner shot a 108 in the first day of action, and added three strokes today to finish with a 111.

Along with Lien’s Second Team All-Conference honors, Iowa Wesleyan was awarded the team Sportsmanship Award.
